Modern and minimalist was the brief for this Yangebup pool project, which won gold in the Residential Fibreglass Lap Pool category at this year’s SPASA Awards.
“The house was brand new, completed by an owner-builder; everything was sleek and square and the owner wanted a pool to match,” Barrier Reef Pools owner Brad Hilbert said.
“He wanted it as streamlined as possible without anything fancy and wanted it to look like a concrete pool.”
Barrier Reef Pools’ 12m lap pool was chosen for the space. It is 2.6m wide and 3.5m out to the entry step.
Grey granite coping gives a dark border to the slimline design, which Mr Hilbert said provides extra definition, while honed concrete surrounds the pool.
The Pacific Shimmer interior finish provides a pop of colour against the modern grey tones of the home.
“The owner runs a metal fabrication business and he installed the fencing with sheets of metal interspersed with small glass panels to provide balance between privacy and glimpses to the ocean,” Mr Hilbert said.
“It is ultra-modern, streamlined and simplistic, and it matches beautifully with the style of the home,” he said.
